Sri Shyam Bhat - Veda Vandane:2013

Sakharayapatna Venkatakrishnaiah Shamabhatta (S. V. Shamabhatta) born in 1926 is a native of Sakharaya Pattana of Kadur Taluk of Chikamagalur district.  His father  Sri. Venkatakrishnaiah and mother Parvathamma of Banaavara influenced formation years of Sri. Shamabhatta with a traditional environment.  After .completing LS at the age of 14, he moved to Beluru and joined Samskrita Patashaala of Sri. Sreenivasa Jois. He learnt Amara, Sanskrit, Paurohitya during his stay in Beluru for about 5 years. Then he shifted to Mysore and Joined Samskrita College nouished by Mysore Maharaja. He studied Sashitya (Sanskrit literature) and Vedanta at Mysore.  After independence in 1947, Sri. Shamabhatta moved to Bangalore for higher studies and joined Sringeri Shankaramutt Patashala. He received training in Meemamsa, Tarka and Vedanta for a duration 6 years.  He was offered a teaching job at Seshadripuram High School in 1955 where  he taught Samskrita to thousands of children for next 30 years. After retirement from service, He founded Pradosha Sangha for teaching daily spiritual rituals such as Sandhya, nityapooja and Veda recitation with prescribed intonation. He expanded and sustained activities of Pradosha Sangha for 12 years in a dynamic way.  In 1969, Sri. Shamabhatta found a need for social system for imparting Sanskrit and Vedic education to those who are interested. He proposed an attractive, easy and systematic method of teaching Sanskrit to masses.  Sri. Shamabhatta along with Sri. Visheshwara Dikshit helped establishing Sri. Sringeri Surasaraswathi Sabha under the aegis of Sri Sringeri Mutt when Sri. Abhinava Vidyatheertha Mahaswameeji was the pontiff of Sringeri.  Sri. Shamabahatta took lead in simplifying Sanskrit curriculum and prepared very attractive syllabus and text books for courses for this system. Very soon, Sanskrit teaching centers multiplied and Sri. Shamabhatta was overseeing management of 700 examination centers.  He is an excellent teacher, and an important educationist of our times. His leadership in promoting Sanskrit, and Vedic education in traditional mooring which is alos aligned with his personal lifestyle is worthy to emulate.  On Saturday, 19th August 2013, Veda Shikshana Samithi offered an expression of gratitude to Sri. Shamabhatta at his residence for his contributions towards Vedic education.

ಸಖರಾಯಪಟ್ಟಣ ವೆಂಕಟಕೃಷ್ಣಯ್ಯ ಶಾಮಭಟ್ಟ (ಸ. ವೆಂ. ಶಾಮಭಟ್ಟ) ಅವರು ೧೯೨೬ ರಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಿಸಿದರು. ಚಿಕ್ಕಮಗಳೂರು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆ ಕಡೂರು ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕು ಸಖರಾಯಪಟ್ಟಣ ಮೂಲದ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯಸ್ಥ ಶ್ರೀ. ವೆಂಕಟಕೃಷ್ಣಯ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಬಾಣಾವರದ ಪಾರ್ವತಮ್ಮ ಕುಟುಂಬದಲ್ಲಿ ಜನನ - ಬಾಲ್ಯ ಸಂಸ್ಕಾರ.  ಎಲ್.ಎಸ್ ವಿದ್ಯಾಭ್ಯಾಸದ ನಂತರ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತ ವಿದ್ಯಾಭ್ಯಾಸಕ್ಕೆ ಬೇಲೂರಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಯಾಣ.  ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತ ಪಾಠಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ  ಸುಮಾರು ಐದು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ ಜೋಯಿಸರಿಂದ ಅಮರ, ಪೌರೋಹಿತ್ಯ ಇವುಗಳ ಕಲಿಕೆ. ನಂತರದ ವಿದ್ಯಾಭ್ಯಾಸಕ್ಕೆ ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ಮಹಾರಾಜರ ಪೋಷಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತ ಪಾಠಶಾಲೆಗೆ ಸೇರ್ಪಡೆ.  ಮೈಸೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ವೇದಾಂತಗಳ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ.  ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯಾನಂತರ ಉನ್ನತ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಶೃಂಗೇರಿ ಶಂಕರ ಮಠ ಸೇರ್ಪಡೆ.  ಮೀಮಾಂಸ,  ತರ್ಕ, ಮತ್ತು ವೇದಾಂತ ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ೬ ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಅದ್ಯಯನ - ಪರಿಣಿತಿ.  ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಶೇಷಾದ್ರಿಪುರಂ ಪ್ರೌಢಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ೧೯೫೫ ರಿಂದ ನೌಕರಿ.  ಮುಂದಿನ ೩೦ ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಸಾವಿರಾರು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತ ಭಾಷಾ ಭೋಧನೆ.  ನಿವೃತ್ತಿಯ ನಂತರ ಸಂಧ್ಯಾವಂದನೆ, ನಿತ್ಯ ಪೂಜೆಗಳಂಥ ನಿತ್ಯ ಕರ್ಮಗಳ, ಸಸ್ವರ ವೇದಮಂತ್ರಗಳ ಕಲಿಕೆಗೆ ಅನುಕೂಲ ವಾಗಲು ಪ್ರದೋಷ  ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆ.  ಸುಮಾರು ೧೨ ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಪ್ರದೋಷ ಸಂಘದ ಸಮರ್ಥ ಉಸ್ತುವಾರ - ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆ.  ಸುಮಾರು ೧೯೬೯ರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತ ಕಲಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಸಾರ್ವತ್ರಿಕಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಅಗತ್ಯದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಚಿಂತನೆ.  ಈ ಉದ್ದೇಶ ಸಾಧನೆಗೆ  ಸುಲಭ ಮತ್ತು  ಆಕರ್ಷಕ ನೀಲನಕ್ಷೆಯ ರಚನೆ.  ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತ ಪಠ್ಯದ ಸರಳೀಕರಣ.  ಶೃಂಗೇರಿ ಮಠದ ಪೀಠಾಧಿಪತಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಅಭಿನವ ವಿದ್ಯಾತೀರ್ಥ ಅವರು ಸಂಕಲ್ಪಿಸಿದ ಶ್ರೀ ಸುರಸರಸ್ವತಿ ಸಭಾದ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀ ವಿಶ್ವೇಶ್ವರ ದೀಕ್ಷಿತ್ ಅವರ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪಾತ್ರ.  ಅತಿ ಶೀಘ್ರಗತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಪ್ರಗತಿಗೆ ಪರಿಶ್ರಮ.  ಸುಮಾರು ೭೦೦ ಪರೀಕ್ಷಾ ಕೇಂದ್ರಗಳ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆ.  ಶೀ ಶಾಮಭಟ್ಟರು ಅತ್ಯತ್ತಮ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರು.  ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಧಾರಣೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕಾರ್ಯಗತಗೊಳಿಸಿದ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಸಮಕಾಲೀನ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ತಜ್ಞರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರು.  ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯ ಬದ್ಧತೆ ಬಿಡದೆ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತ ಮತ್ತು  ವೇದವಿದ್ಯೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರಚುರ ಪಡಿಸುವ ದಿಕ್ಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಿರುವ ನಾಯಕತ್ವ ಗುಣಗಳು ಅನುಸರಣೆಗೆ ಆದರ್ಶ ಪ್ರಾಯ.  ವೇದ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಮಿತಿಯು ದಿನಾಂಕ ೧೮ ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ ೨೦೧೩, ಶನಿವಾರದಂದು ಶ್ರೀ ಸ. ವೆಂ. ಶಾಮಭಟ್ಟ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಅವರು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿರುವ ಸೇವೆಗೆ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿತು.
